WHAT IS CLOMIXYL?
Clomiphene Citrate, more commonly known under the brand name Clomid (or Clomixyl), is an oral prescription drug used by men and women who suffer from infertility due to ovulation issues. Clomiphene citrate is an effective fertility drug that has been used in the treatment of infertility since the 1960s. The medication works by stimulating the release of hormones necessary for ovulation to occur, thus aiding in the production of an egg that can then be fertilized. Clomiphene citrate works by restoring the balance of hormones that affect ovulation, and is used both to induce ovulation in women who do not produce eggs naturally, and to stimulate multiple egg production in women who already ovulate.
Clomid uses range from inducing ovulation, and can be used in the treatment of both male and female infertility due to hormonal imbalances. For men, clomiphene citrate is sometimes used to help increase sperm counts and can be used in a variety of cases that involve low testosterone levels or problems with sperm production. For both men and women, clomiphene citrate can also help to increase levels of two key hormones needed for successful egg production and maturation, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).
