Clomiphene is a gonadotropin stimulant, a drug with estrogenic and anti-estrogenic activity. The drug consists of the active substance clomiphene citrate and excipients.
Pharmacological action and pharmacokinetics The drug has a non-steroidal structure, its effect is achieved through specific binding to estrogen receptors of the pituitary and hypothalamus, resulting in increased secretion of pituitary gonadotropin hormones. As a result, the maturation and endocrine activity of the follicle in the ovary are stimulated, the corpus luteum is formed and its vital functions are supported. Use of the drug in high doses leads to inhibition of gonadotropin secretion.
